The Ashes
Tiscali UK bought by Carphone Warehouse
TalkTalk hopes to become UK’s largest provider after the purchase of Tiscali UK by Carphone Warehouse. The purchase will bring TalkTalk’s subscribers to 4.25 million by adding the 1.7 million Tiscali UK subscribers.
The deal was made when Carphone Warehouse agreed to pay the sum of 235 million pounds to Tiscali.
This makes the company the second largest communications service provider in the United Kingdom after BT Group.
The people who are currently subscribed with Tiscali will not have to endure annoying and confusing short-notice chances because Carphone Warehouse stated that for the time being people will keep their existing tariffs, their current email addresses and the same customer service contacts.
The company plans to progressively switch Tiscali customers to Carphone Warehouse’s billing and customer service systems over a period of two years. Nevertheless, Charles Dunstone, Carphone Warehouse CEO, said to the Tiscali subscribers that they will experience improved services.
While some voices say that the acquisition is a good thing for Tiscali’s customers, since the former company was not able to provide very good services which were being described as “deteriorating”. However, some expressed their concerns saying that TalkTalk will have a lot on its hands considering that they also own AOL.
Cheers!
