According to a report, the President of the U.S., Barack Obama will receive a secure BlackBerry 8830. We already know that he uses a BlackBerry 8830, however, this cellphone doesn’t meet federal security standards therefore the President needs something else. In order to make secure calls, Obama used a phone called Sectera Edge developed by General Dynamics Corp. The problem is that Sectera Edge is a very ugly phone with an impractical design, while the BB 8830 features a better design.
The reporst says that Barack Obama will receive his secure BlackBerry 8830 as soon as the National Security Agency approves the software. The NSA will decide soon if the encryption software meets their standards, but the sad thing for Obama is that he will only make calls and send SMS to devices which feature secure software therefore the encryption software will have to be installed on the devices owned by First Lady Michelle Obama, and Barack Obama’s aides.
“We’re going to put his BlackBerry back in his hand,” said Steven Garrett, CEO at Genesis Key Inc., the company who developed the software.
Personally, I think that Barack Obama should go for a better cellphone. It seems like he prefers BlackBerry so I would recommend him a BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Bold 9000, or the touchscreen-based BlackBerry Storm 9500. However, Barack Obama will definitely his high-security BlackBerry 8830 soon so he will be able to enjoy his cellphone undisturbed.
