Over there in Taiwan, one company is hoping to make an Atom-based desktop PC a popular package simply by affixing it with one of the most beloved three-syllable words of our generation. Nothing else about this mid-size box really shines, however – the OBAMA PC is stuck with a featherweight for a CPU and nothing special on the video. It’s gotta coupla sticks of RAM in the back and half a gigabyte of hard drive, so it should take care of the Internet and some office applications in a jiff. Don’t expect to be handling a ton of multimedia and doing a ton of multitasking with this rig, though.
On the flip side, the OBAMA PC is offered up for a mere NT$7,999 – that’s just about $242, so nobody’s going broke over this one. In fact, you’ll even have some cash left over to buy a couple of packs of Barack trading cards at Walmart. The company that makes this thing is called SEED, and as far as we know, it’s still tied down to Taiwan; maybe we’ll see a few of these bad boys on the other side of the sea a little later on.
