Ingenious designers around the globe take inspiration from the simple scenes of day-to-day life which we just ignore. Adding to line of such talented designers, J Yu has come up with a living wall clock for your home. What inspired this designer to come up with the creative time piece is the U static’s development of wall grass. Bringing the grass indoors, the “Hour///Gras” is a 12-hour linear wall clock that draws on the relationship between indoors and outdoors, time and growth, and man and nature.
Enclosed within a stainless steel and glass body, it lets you grow the grass or other plants using the artificial substrate. As the hour and minute hand pass over each other throughout the day, their sharpened edges maintain the grass/plant at the users preset length while the second hand passes by in a perpetual left to right motion every 60 seconds. Also, at the bottom of the encasement there is a slide-out container that helps you collect the wheatgrass or dispose of the clippings. The water basin at the top right corner of the frame allows for watering the plants. The ventilation grills running along the top of the frame allow for the exchange of air and moisture. This is what I call a innovative living timepiece that’s simply a must-have!
