One of the most exhaustive studies on cell phone radiation has been conducted by the Environmental Working Group and it revealed that the level of radiations can vary from cell phone to cell phone.
The group released a list of more than 1,000 devices and the amount of radiation they emit. Until now science hasn’t been able to make a connection between cellphones and cancer, but recent studies prove that cellphones can cause brain and mouth tumors for more than 10 years of use.
While scientists studies try to prove that cellphones can cause cancer, CTIA strongly disagrees, noting that “scientific evidence has overwhelmingly indicated that wireless devices do not pose a health hazard.”
CTIA’s statement also says that the Food and Drug Administration, World Health Organization and the American Cancer Society don’t consider wireless devices a public health risk.
From the list of tested devices, the Samsung Impression has the lowest amount of radiation, at 0.35 watts per kilogram, while the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, Kyocera Jax S1300, and Motorola Moto VU204 emit 1.55 watts per kilogram. Apple’s iPhone seems to be in the middle range, with 1.19 W / kg.
Currently, the FCC ( Federal Communications Commission ) requires phone makers to have their phones emit mostly 1.6 W / kg.
