Attention Assist For Sleep Drivers
Both the Volvo S80 and Merecedes-Benz S500 is carrying this new safety feature. Aptly called the Attention Assist, this device can detect whether a driver is nodding off on the road.
We must admit that most of road accidents happen because drivers fall asleep while driving. This is especially true to those whose work requires them to drive at nighttime. The Attention Assist uses 70 parameters that signal to the car when and if the driving is starting to nod off.
If the car detects your drowsiness, a light indicator would come flashing on the dashboard. The light comes into the form of a coffee cup.
I’d much rather prefer if the car has GPS function where it can steer you, or at least stop the car when you begin to drowse off. But in a way, this can also help sleepy drivers in knowing that maybe they should stop for a minute on the side of the road to have a much-needed nap than continue on their driving and get in an accident.
