The Ashes
Apple To Release 10″ iPhone OS Tablet, While Considering 13″ and 15″ Mac OS X Tablets
The rumors about the Apple Tablet are back, but it feels like they never left us. The Apple Tablet is haunting us, and we don’t even know if it’s real. The latest gossip talk comes from Gizmodo who received some details about the device from a trusted sources “that has always been 100% reliable.” According to the sources, Apple will release a 10-inch tablet soon, but the Cupertino-based company is also working on 13-inch and 15-inch models as well. The surprise: one of them is running on full Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
Gizmodo’s source said that the 13″ and the 15″ are just “two touchscreen prototypes” and both are made of aluminum like the MacBooks, but they look like giant iPhones. The prototypes were seen at a factory in Shenzuen, China, at a company who is in a great relationshiop, but “it’s not Foxconn.” The 100% trusted source said that one of the Apple tablet prototypes “was running Mac OS X 10.5″ but so far we have never heard of rumors concerning tablets bigger than 12″ and which were definitely running on Mac OS X.
If we can truly rely on this source then we can accurately say that Apple has found a way to integrate the iPhone OS into a 10″ tablet and it will be interesting to see how it performs on such a big screen. As for the other two tablets the source wasn’t able to tell if they are destined for “demonstration purposes” or if they were “pre-production units.”
I guess only time will tell, but we’re beginning to be very anxious to see what Apple has prepared for us. The problem is that the source didn’t mention pricing details or a release date.
