The Apple Tablet is probably the most expected device this year since the Palm Pre was launched. Actually, the Apple Tablet has been expected for ages, probably ever since the Newton MessagePad was a failure. I guess I don’t have to say once again that not a single day passes without an Apple-related rumor because you figured it out for yourself.
Now, market research firm Piper Jaffray is the the latest to have compiled a report about the tablet device, and the figures are impressive. According to the financial analysis, Apple will sell 2 million units in the first year, each costing about $600 meaning that Apple will gain $1.2 billion in revenue thanks to the product that will be launched sometime in early-2010. The Piper Jaffray analysis also states that Apple’s overall annual revenue will increase with 3% in 2010 thanks to the tablet device.
The key of the Apple Tablet is that it doesn’t address a niche market like Apple TV therefore will be sold in more units than the aforementioned device which sold in 1.2 million units in the first year after the launch. Piper Jaffray’s sources claim that Apple ordered the goods for a touchscreen device, and those will be shipped sometime in late 2009 meaning that the product will be launched in early 2010.
We don’t know who is reliable anymore as there are too many firms which compiled too many reports about the Apple Tablet. Some sources say that the device will be unveiled in September and released in November, while others say that the product will show up in 2010. What if both of these predictions are wrong and Apple will release it by the end of the summer? Well, this is just a dream, but I want to tell something to you: I am very tired about this Apple Tablet and all the fuss surrounding it. Please Apple, just unveil so everybody can get over it.
P.S. Below you can find a mockup of what the Apple Tablet will look like.
