App Store Reaches 1 Billion Downloads In Just Nine Months
Well, I am pleased to have targeted my prediction from April 13. I said back then that Apple will reach 1 billion App Store downloads in 10 to 12 days, and they did it. On April 23rd, the App Store has officially reached 1 billion application downloads in just nine months. It was quite a road for Apple, very surprising I must say. I would have never thought that this will be such a hit when Apple released it. I don’t think that BlackBerry’s app store, the App World will reach something like that. It’s just impossible, but not for Apple.
Although does whatever the heck they want like rejecting many good apps, approving bad apps, approving then removing good apps, approving then removing bad apps, and I could go on forever like this. Meanwhile Steve Jobs is home sick, but it seems like he is still working for Apple and he will officially return in June. Why in June? Well, because the next generation iPhone should be unveiled, even if Apple forgot to release some pics specs, or to admit that they are working on something for us.
That being said, the Billion App Countdown promotion has ended which means that you cannot enter the competition anymore. Apple will unveil the winners soon. The prizes are a MacBook Pro, an iPod, and a $10,000 iTunes gift card, and you should check from time to time if you won.
